PRESS RELEASE June 2017
AUTOMECHANIKA BIRMINGHAM 2017
Japanparts Group expands its line of shock absorbers.
From Japanparts Group all the information you need for the correct maintenance of shock absorbers, which have become a fast moving product for the company, leading to an expansion of the product range covering 95% of the Asiatic, European and American vehicles on the road.
The shock absorber is the main element of the suspension; the link between wheel and chassis. The main tasks of shock absorbers are in two: reducing the solicitations conveyed from the movement of the wheels on uneven terrains and the limitation of the vehicle movement when turning or braking and maintaining the tyres tread with contact with the road.
The shock absorber absorbs and dissipates the energy that is impressed or released by the suspension and thus balance the system stopping the oscillation of the mass over time. Therefore, adjusting the shock absorber means adjusting the time necessary to eliminate the oscillation.
This is not a feat as easy as it would appear, given that the average driver knows little or nothing about this critical component and under the typical maintenance programs shock absorbers play little or no role.
Drivers are aware of the maintenance intervals for checking oil and filters, but all they know about shock absorbers is that they last a long time. In addition, knowledge about the actual role played by the shock absorbers in the vehicle is limited to the fact that they make driving more comfortable.
A faulty shock absorber, lacking its damping force, even if it has no evident impact on driving comfort can be a hazard for safety. Therefore, it is possible that one drives a potentially dangerous vehicle without even knowing it. The reason why this occurs is found in the gradual wear and tear process, which allows the driver to get used to the lowered damping capacity. Another reason is that shock absorbers that are partially worn out do not give out clear signs of malfunction, such as noise . However, in the case of sudden braking or higher-speed turns, the potential hazards arising from worn out shock absorbers could emerge without warning.
The International Research Institute GiPA (Groupement inter Professionel de l'Automobile), specialised in the automotive sector, carried out studies on the life expectancy of shock absorbers, concluding that they guarantee approximately 60 to 80,000 km of travel and that anything past this threshold could give rise to hazards. The tolerance margin depends on many factors, such as the quality of the roads and the driving style. Unpaved roads or those with many pot holes, just like a sporty driving style where little attention is paid to bumps and dips, reduce the shock absorbers life span significantly. For this reason, they should be checked out every 20,000 km.
Shock absorbers must be replaced in pairs on the same chassis. In addition, it is recommended to replace also the protection kits which may lose their elastic properties.
Japanparts Group has dedicated significant investments to the development of these items, which have become a fast moving product very quickly. For this reason, this year the company has expanded the storing area, adding a 13,000 square meter warehouse exclusively dedicated to this product. In addition, currently, there are 1,600 part numbers readily available in stock at the warehouse in Verona, which allows not only quick deliveries in Italy but also in every country where the Group has offices.
However, the work does not stop there: the continuous implementation of these items follows a preferential path across the Product Marketing Department, with the constant addition of new applications. Just in the past two months, the company by adding 300 new codes has increased the coverage of the Asiatic, European and American on-road vehicles. Reaching 95%.
The product range does not include only products used on vehicles of the Asian brands, in which Japanparts Group has always been specialised, but also European and American models: from the VAG Group to the FCA Group, the Renault Group (Renault-Nissan-Dacia), PSA Group, BMW, GM, Mercedes, Subaru, Toyota and Volvo. Among the most recent additions there are Cadillac, Hummer, Land Rover, Smart, Piaggio and DR.
Nowadays, this assortment can be deemed one of the vastest in the after-market sector, equal to the leading brands in the market with a number of items that very few others can boast.
For the manufacturing only high quality components and materials are used, with very detailed processing. The stem features high-resistance chrome plating, NOK o-rings which distinguish themselves for being long lasting and for their excellent sealing properties. Accurate painting and welding complete the process.
On the adjustment values (compression and distension), over the entire operating spectrum, the product boasts an excellent result and meets the same level of the leading products on the market for reliability and quality.
Also the choice of packaging has been made with care, in such a way to guarantee significant space reduction and immediate recognisability of the product. Competitive pricing represents an added element of interest respect to the average on the market.
The service includes also shock absorber supports which are inserted in the helicoidal spring to strengthen the vehicle and better control its springing and dust protection kits which, with only 6 items, allow covering 92% of the on-road vehicles, both perfectly compatible with the marketed shock absorbers.
